400 get degree at PEC convocation

Four hundred students received their engineering degrees at the 37th annual convocation of the Punjab Engineering College on Wednesday. Nine students were awarded gold medals for securing the first position in honours subjects.
Various special medals were also awarded to the students. Shruti Singh, a student from the Electrical Engineering department, was awarded the Administrator’s Gold Medal for overall outstanding performance.
Metallurgical Engineering student Saurabh Jagota bagged the Adviser’s Gold Medal for best performance in sports.
The Miglani Memorial Gold Medal was presented to Saumya Jain from the Computer Science department. The Kalpana Chawla Memorial Award went to Anand Saxena from the Aeronautical Engineering department.
Delivering the convocation address, Ranjit Puri, Chairman, ISGEC, Yamuna Nagar, said, “More technological advancements are needed in our daily lives. The graduates contribute to the economic development of the country. But the technology has to be coupled with natural curiosity to make it easier to face competition.”
Chandra Mohan, Chairman, Board of Governors of the college, presided over the function.
PEC Director Dr Vijay Gupta presented the annual report of the college, highlighting the performance of students in sports, academics and co-curricular activities. He also lauded the efforts of the Training and Placement Cell of the college.
