Symposium on cyber security organized

A Symposium on cyber-security awareness, organised by the Cyber Security Research Centre, Punjab Engineering College, was held at Hotel Mountview under the aegis of Department of Information Technology, Chandigarh Administration and NASSCOM.
The cyber Security Research Centre was established in Punjab Engineering College in collaboration with the Chandigarh Administration and NASSCOM. NASSCOM provides the technical support to the venture, while the funding to the project has been provided by the IT department of the Chandigarh Administration.
Punjab Governor and Chandigarh administrator Gen S F Rodrigues (retd) was the chief guest on the occasion. He urged the creation of public-private partnerships to make this endeavour a success. He added that Information Technology will impact all fields and India has the werewithals to be a leader in this field.
The symposium aimed at establishing a dialogue between crime-fighting agencies, the security industry and experts to create a platform on which information security can be examined from several global perspectives.
The symposium helped in fostering cooperation and exchange of ideas with reputed representatives from the industry, government and the academia.
The symposium had a wide spectrum of speakers from industry, CERT-IN, and academia visiting from across the country. Dr Prem Chand, Vice President and CEO, Tech Mahindra, gave the key note address.
