     Amarpal Khanna elected as IEEE fellow

Phase Matrix’s Vice President of Components, Dr. Amarpal (Paul) Khanna, has been elected to the rank of IEEE Fellow by the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) effective January 1st, 2008, for his contributions to the field of microwave signal generation technology. The IEEE is the pre-eminent international professional group for electrical and electronics engineers with membership exceeding 370,000 spread over more than 160 countries. A non-profit organization, IEEE is the world's leading professional association for the advancement of technology.

The award for Dr. Khanna cites "for contributions to the design and measurement techniques of microwave oscillators.” Attainment of the Fellow grade in the IEEE recognizes "unusual distinction" and "important individual contributions" to engineering and can be conferred "only by invitation of the Board of Directors upon a person of outstanding and extraordinary qualifications and experience," according to the IEEE. "It's wonderful to see this honor bestowed upon Dr. Khanna," said Pete Pragastis, Phase Matrix’s President and CEO. "His dedication, commitment and contributions to the signal generation technology has made him an authority in the field."

At Phase Matrix, Dr. Khanna has played a leading role in the establishment of the microwave and RF technology/components group, which provides world-class products for military and commercial applications. Products in this group represent high performance components and sub-assemblies in the field of signal generation and frequency conversion.

Dr. Khanna was raised in Punjab, India and obtained his undergraduate degree in Electronics and Electrical Communications from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, India. He completed his graduate studies at the University of Limoges, France, where he completed his Doctorate of Engineering in Microwave and Optical Communications in 1981. Prior to joining Phase Matrix, Dr. Khanna had held leadership positions at Loral, Avantek, Hewlett-Packard, Agilent Technologies, and Teledyne Microwave.
