     Budding engineers have a ball at Technique

Budding engineers let their hair down on the second and concluding day of TECHNIQUE ‘08, the annual technical event organised by Punjab Engineering College. The event provided a platform for the enterprising engineers to showcase their skills and talents in the competitive arena. There was enthusiastic participation by the students from IIT Delhi, IIT Roorke, BITS Pilani, MNIT Allahabad, NIT Jallandar and GNDU.

Apple Inc. conducted an informative workshop-cum-competition — Podcasting — and gave away I-pods as prizes. IIT Roorkee bagged the first prize, which included a cash award of Rs 40,000, for the business plan competition. BITS-Pilani bagged the runners-up prize getting Rs 25,000 and IIT Delhi was declared third with a cash prize of Rs 10,000.

Eclectica ‘08 — a Technical paper presentation competition had students presenting their technical papers. Other events included Istair (a robotics contest), Network Designing, Thrill Ride, Bulls And Bears (a virtual stock market), Back To The Future and LAN Gaming. Dean Students Welfare Dr K K Garg and Chief Coordinator, Technical Societies, Dr Neena Gupta gave away the cash prizes and trophies.

The fest is an effort to provide a platform to budding engineers to showcase their technical acumen.

The fest had been inaugurated by Director CSIO Dr Pawan Kapoor. The first day witnessed events like marketing plan, website designing, robotics competition, workshops on forensics and hacking. Naveen Bansal bagged the first prize in Technical Analysis. In Motor Winding Design Firasat Ali and Guneet Sethi placed first, while Manish Singla and Parul Seth were second. In another contest, Hack My Network, Arshdeep, Siddhartha Anil and Tushar bagged the first prize and Suchreet Kaur and Swati were second.
