     Catch a ROBO!

Chandigarh, July 10th 2008, Express News Service

The Robotics Club of Punjab Engineering College is all set to launch its website.

While others spent their summer break holidaying and partying, a bunch of Punjab Engineering College (PEC) students worked hard to blaze a trail. The Robotics Club of PEC is gearing up to launch its website roboticspec.com. Having spent a month on designing, coding, uploading data et al, the club is brushing up on last- minute details. “After a month of discussions, revisions, changes, we are a step short of the final launch,” shares an excited Sonal Gupta, second-year student of electronics.

The dynamic blue website will hold details of the club, college and its members. “Students can visit the website for information on ongoing projects, events organised, competitions, workshops, future targets etc,” tells Hitesh Gupta, a final-year computer science student, the coder for the website. The Log-Ins can be done only by members who will be provided Log-In ids and passwords by the team. While posting comments is also for members only, guests can access the website and leave their views and suggestions. “The main aim is to publicize the club and encourage more activity. We want to share the information we possess and everybody who is interested in the subject. If someone has an idea for the activities of the club, we are open to that. The website will also enable students to approach us for any robotics related queries and problems and we will try and solve them,” shares Sneha Aggrawal, second-year electronics student and designer of the website.

“The website was being planned for a long time. We felt a need for a common platform for everything that was related to robotics. This is our second website. The first one was on free domain and it did not allow us to upload sufficient data. A paid domain was the best option which gave us a lot of freedom while finalizing the website. Moreover, it will also ensure future growth. The new website is definitely smarter,” smiles Sonal. The students, including Alok Kumar Gupta (Secretary), Madhur Behl (Joint Secretary) and Arpita Agarwal (Designer), managed the finances with the prize money that they won at an NSIT event in Delhi. But they are hoping to rope in some sponsors.
