     PEC all set to welcome freshers

PEC opens its gate for the freshers with a bang. What better way to step in a new college than with a bang. Punjab Engineering College will welcome the freshers for the year 2008 with a gala event ‘Orientation 2008’ on Tuesday. Comprising an introduction session with the seniors, college academics, campus life and cultural activities, “The students here will get a chance to interact with their teachers and seniors without any inhibitions,” says Akanksha Vir, adding that the endeavor is create a bond of understanding with the freshers that will help wipe out any kind of fear that they have of the college life.

With months of preparation and numerous new ideas gone into making the event a success, “the teachers have helped us at every step,” chips in Akash Deep, a third year student.

A two-day event to be held on July 29 and 30, here there would be speeches by office-bearers, one-to-one interaction with the department heads, and a tour around the college campus. “Adding to the fun would be the sumptuous meals and the desserts,” says Vir, telling us that the students would also be introduced to the cultural side of the college by the way of introduction sessions with all official clubs and technical societies of the college, and other college activities like NSS and PECFest. Concluding the event would be a stage play and a movie. Here’s to a welcoming start.
