     Change of Guard at IGL

New Delhi, July 31st 2008

Rajesh Vedvyas has taken over as the Managing Director of Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL), the sole supplier of Compressed Natural Gas and Piped Natural Gas in the capital.

Vedvyas, an Electronics and Communication Engineering Graduate from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, brings to IGL a rich and diverse experience encompassing over thirty one years. After serving as a Zonal Head for twenty three years in GAIL, Hyderabad, he holds a wider experience in projects pertaining to marketing and operations. Prior to joining GAIL in 1985, he had an eight years stint at IndianOil Corporation too. Vedvyas took over the reigns of IGL from Om Narayan, who has been repatriated to GAIL, from where he would be superannuating on July 31, 2008. IGL is a joint venture between the GAIL and BPCL with government of NCT Delhi holding a 5 per cent equity stake.

IGL's role in checking the vehicular pollution in the capital is well acknowledged both at national and international forums. IGL has laid out its gas distribution infrastructure in Delhi, which consists of over 1,350 kms of pipeline network. Over 163 CNG stations have been created catering to 1,25,000 households.
