     PEC and Philips tie up on innovation

Chandigarh September 16th 2008,
Dr. Manoj Datta, Director Punjab Engineering College (Deemed University) and Mr Rakesh Sharma, Sr. Director Philips India Limited exchanged a joint research agreement during a ceremony at PEC on 16th Sep ’08. The agreement is an effort to bridge the gap between industry and an educational institute for closer collaboration to meet technical challenges. The agreement envisages student-centric activities in which students of PEC will form research groups along with a faculty coordinator from PEC and a Project Coordinator from Philips India to undertake the research projects for innovative solutions to field problems.

The collaboration is an effort to bring closer the young minds at PEC to aiming to facilitate both PEC and Philips India in developing understanding, appreciating and working together in the area of innovation. Mr Rakesh Sharma Sr. Director Philips India Limited termed this Agreement as another step of Philips India towards coming closer to academic institutes which are the resource and talent pools for the future leaders of Indian industry.
