     Intel-PEC collaborate on VLSI Design

Intel is collaborating with PEC University of Technology to launch Intel Higher Education Program with the aim to improve quality of engineering education and to bridge the gap between industry and academia in the areas of VLSI design. A letter of Engagement is the activities of Intel Higher Education Program will include new technology curriculum development and integration, technical workforce development, promoting research in academia, student and faculty development programs, and technology entrepreneurship programs.

Intel would provide access to Multi Core Curriculum framework jointly developed by Intel and IIT Kanpur for augmenting the existing curriculum in undergraduate and post graduate engineering course for preparing the PEC students on skills required by Industry on Multi Core Technologies. Intel would also provide a compilation of technical lectures on Multi Core Technologies delivered by technologists from Intel and eminent academicians and researchers from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and IITs. A Center for Mask Design will be set up at PEC University of Technology in the future. It will provide a platform for running short term courses, training and certification programs. The Intel Higher Education program will also be beneficial to faculty. It will give them access to Intel Software Community which will enable them to access to tools and student licenses for Multi Core, learning resources, access to webinars, webcasts etc. They will also be invited for summer course on Multi Core or other advanced technologies which will empower them on teaching advanced computer architecture.

The program will create an ecosystem of VLSI Design in the institute where the students will be nurtured with the latest trends in VLSI industry. It will also enable PEC to run curriculum development workshops to share its curriculum with other institutes.
