     PECfest ends on euphoric note

Pecfest ’06 ended with a scintillating performance by Euphoria at the Punjab Engineering College grounds here today.

The day witnessed a host of competitions. The debate in English — On the Cross Swords—was won by PEC's team of Devashish and Puneet. Gaurav and Karandeep of UIET came second.

PEC students Anindo Chatterjee and Shyam bagged the top two prizes in Stress-busters, an IQ-based quiz. X3NIX zone was won by UIET students Sahil Kumar, Prabhar, Mohit Garg and Saurabh.

Counter Strike was won by the team of Mohit Garg, Sushant Sehgal, Vikas Rawat, Nikil Dar of UIET. NFS was won by Karan Singh of CIET while Age of Empires was won by Abhinav Jain of PEC.

The youth parliament was coordinated by Suhel Jain. Gaurav Chhibber of UIET was chosen as the best speaker while the best defender was Tanav from LLRIET, Moga. Best attacker was Harkirat Singh from PEC; Most informative was Rahul Tayal from PEC. Harkirat of PEC was declared Best overall. Amit Hans, Head, Career Launcher, was the judge.

Analytica, one of the technical events was computer a adaptive test which judged the students on the basis of English and Mathematics. Arun Syal of PEC won while Varun and Ankur Gupta came second and third respectively.

Aspaan Kaur of GCG and Neha Sharma of GCA won the pot-painting competition. Sweta Aggarwal PEC and Poonam Verma GCG came second and third respectively. Wings the glider design competition was won by Abhishek and Amitoj from UIET. Madhu and Prabhran from PEC and Mandeep Singh and Atul from PEC won the second and third prize respectively. Best innovation prize was given to Anant Puri and Gursharan Deepa.

Jeux de Concures, a corporate quiz organized by Sandeep Bhatia was won by Nishant Sharma and Mayur from PEC. Kenny and Shaurya from PEC, Shantanu and Ariban from NIT Jalandhar and Paramjit and Harpreet from PU won the second and third prize respectively.

The winners in the music competitions were Nikhil (PEC), Prapti (PEC), Sakshi, Brahm Inder Singh (CEC, Ludhiana), Akhil, Nandni (PEC), Sameer (DAV), Gagan, Neha (Chitkara), Shalini (UIET), Akhil and Raman, Himanshu and Saurabh.

The Ad Mad show was organised by the dramatics club. The event was judged by Neha Sabharwal of Radio Buzz and Harvinder Khetal of The Tribune. The event apprentice was organized by E-cell coordinated by Akhil Singhal. The winning team comprised of Anubhav Gahlavat (designer), Achin Kishore (manager) and Tarun Solanki (coordinator).

A Hindi poem recitation competition- ‘Meri awaaaz suno’- organised by the Hindi Education Board and coordinated by Varun Bindal and Mrigank Aggarwal was won by Nehal Nangia (MCM DAV), Gaurav (GC-11), Anubhuti (MCM DAV) and Simar (IET, Bhaddal). The T-shirt design contest was coordinated by Shivani Bansal.

Among the winners of yesterday’s events are Deepika, Vrinda, Sanket, Prachi, Puneet, Priyanka, Mayank and Divanshi.
