Haryana to digitalize road maps
Chandigarh, Oct 12 (PTI) Haryana Government has decided digitalize the road maps of the state and conduct independent quality inspection of PWD works through experts from the country's top engineering institutes. Steps would be inititated to publish maps in the digital format, a spokesman of the Public Works Department said.
He said that the third party independent inspection and quality testing of works would also be introduced through reputed government institutions.
Experts from Indian Institute of Technology at Delhi and Roorkee, Central Building Research Institute, National Council of Building Materials, National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, Birla Institute of Science and Technology, Punjab Engineering College and Delhi College of Engineering would be sought for conducting the inspections, he said.
Existing Research Laboratory of the Public Works (Building and Roads) Department would be converted into State Academy of Research and Training, he added.
For upgrading the by-pass around Delhi, an estimate of Rs. 152 crore has been submitted to the Central Government.
He said that it has also been decided to revise PWD Code and Manual of Orders and also the Haryana Schedule of Rates and Specifications.
He said that with a view to promote public-private partnership, the State Government had identified five roads in the mining and industrial area to be constructed on Build Operate and Transfer basis. PTI
